What's inside your Book Brief

Everything the Free Live Book Brief produces — your thesis, your reader's ache, your signature voice, your market lane, the reader journey and the PDF you can download.

What's inside your Book Brief

Your Book Brief is built live, from your own material, in the free session. It is a strategic foundation for the book already inside your message — not the book itself, and not the chapter-by-chapter plan. Here is exactly what it contains.

Your book at a glance

  • What it says — the central idea underneath your teaching.
  • Who it's for — the reader you are actually writing to.
  • What changes for them — the promise your book keeps.

The ache your reader is carrying

The lived tension that makes someone pick your book up. It is drawn from your own material — nothing is invented and no testimony is added.

Your signature voice

If you have captured your Voice DNA, the Brief reflects it back to you:

  • the posture you take toward your reader
  • your cadence, rhythm and sentence shape
  • your emotional register
  • phrases that are unmistakably yours, quoted verbatim
  • guardrails for what would never sound like you

This section only appears when the Studio has genuinely observed your voice in the words you supplied. It is never guessed.

Why this book is needed

An honest read on your market lane, in one of two forms:

  • A distinct lane — the well-known books nearest to yours are named, with a plain statement of how your book differs. This is the usual answer.
  • A category gap — used only when no confident comparable can be named.

It also names the reader still unserved and the signs that an audience is already there. Where recognised research has described the pattern your book addresses, the source is named in plain language — Barna Group, Lifeway Research, Pew Research Center or Gallup — describing the direction of their published work rather than quoting a statistic at you.

On sales figures: the Brief never states copies sold, sales rankings, percentages or market-size numbers. Verified sales data sits behind closed publisher systems, so the Brief speaks to category demand rather than inventing numbers.

Message boundaries and convictions

What your book insists on, and what it deliberately refuses to claim.

The journey your reader travels

The movements a reader passes through from first page to last. This is the shape of the book. The full chapter-by-chapter plan is built later — in the Planning Centre or the Guided Book Sprint.

Your concept cover

A visual of the book with your working title and name on it, generated for you and kept in your cover history.

The PDF

Everything above downloads as a designed multi-page PDF: cover page, the message, substance, your voice, why this book is needed, the reader journey, readiness and the next step. It is the version to print or show someone.

How long it takes to build

The wait depends entirely on how much you uploaded. A single talk or sermon outline is usually ready in one to two minutes. A full teaching series of tens of thousands of words takes several minutes, because every word is read, indexed and voice-profiled before the Brief is written. The screen tells you the expected wait for your own deposit and what stage it has reached.

You do not have to sit and watch it. The work continues on its own — you can close the page and come back, and your finished Brief will be waiting.

What the Book Brief is not

  • It is not a chapter plan.
  • It is not a first draft.
  • It does not write the book for you.

The Guided Book Sprint turns this exact Brief into your first draft.
